ESS-FP / ADMISSIONS

Admission to the degree courses at the Higher School of Health Fernando Pessoa is subject to an online application process. ​Please choose your application condition bellow.

1. To have completed secondary education abroad equivalent to the Portuguese secondary education;

2. To have taken, in the current year (ex: 2023) or in the 2 previous years (ex: 2022/2021) and with a minimum score of 95 points (on a scale of 0 to 200), school-leaving exams that are equivalent to the Portuguese admission exams required for the undergraduate course to which you are applying;

3. To have obtained, in the Application Mark, a minimum mark of 100 points.

  • The admission exams are available in the page of the course;
  • According to Article 20th of the Decree nr. 296-A/98, foreign secondary education graduates can request the substitution of the admission exams required for the course they are applying to by the foreign school-leaving exams that are equivalent to said admission exams, provided that: – The foreign school-leaving exams are national exams or local exams recognized on a national level in the country where they are taken;

A) They are equivalent to the Portuguese admission exams (albeit with different names, the exams have same level and similar goals and contents of the Portuguese admission(s) exams).
b) The student obtained in the required school-leaving exams a minimum of 95 marks, in a scale of 0 to 200.


NOTES:
i) If you completed your secondary education over three years ago and are not yet 23 years old or only turned 23 this year, then you will have to take admission exams in a Portuguese secondary education school.
ii) If you have not taken, with a positive mark, school-leaving exams that are equivalent to the Portuguese admission exams  required for the undergraduate course to which you are applying, then you will have to take admission exams in a Portuguese secondary education school.
iii) If you completed your secondary education over three years ago and you are 23 years old or over (until the 31st of December of last year), please follow this link.
  • The selection through the General Regime is based on an Application Mark (from the highest to the lowest mark – until the places are filled in).
  • The application mark is a classification in a scale of 0 to 200 points and applicants must have a minimum of 100 points to apply.
    It is calculated using the following formula: classification of secondary education × 0.65 + classification of the school-leaving exam(s)* × 0.35.* Equivalent to the Portuguese admission exams required for the undergraduate course to which you are applying.
  • European Union country identification document;
  • Copy of a fiscal identification document (tax number) (for receipt purposes);
  • Diploma of EU secondary education, with indication of the final classification, with the grading scale and the minimum mark for approval*;
  • Transcript of Records of EU secondary education, with indication of the final classification of the subjects, with the grading scale and the minimum mark for approval*;
  • Proof of correspondence of foreign secondary education level – obtained obtained in any secondary education school in Portugal;
  • Proof of validation of the school-leaving exams – obtained at the Portuguese Directorate-General for Higher Education.
  • ESSFP’s application form, duly filled out;
  • Payment of the Application Fee.


* Documents that are not issued in the Portuguese language, the English language, the Spanish language or the French language, will only be accepted if accompanied by a certified translation into the Portuguese language. Important: The application is only validated after the payment of the application fee.

Pre-Requisites:
The pre-requisites are evidence of physical, functional or vocational skills that are required for the Health Sciences Faculty and the Higher School of Health Fernando Pessoa courses.

  • This evidence is given through a form (Group A form) that must be filled in by a doctor registered in the Portuguese Medical Association.
  • The pre-requisites form is given in when registering.

Students admitted in the Speech Therapy undergraduate degree must also give in a declaration that proves the absence of language or speech impediments and is proficient in the Portuguese language as it is written and spoken in Portugal (the form is provided by the Admissions Office at FFP and signed by a Speech Therapist registered in the Portuguese Speech Therapists Association). The Speech Therapist declaration is given in when registering.

Admitted applicants must give in the following documents at the Admissions Office:

  1. EU identificaton document;
  2. Coloured photo 3 x 4 cm;
  3. In the case of applications submitted online: hard copies of the:
  • Diploma of EU secondary education, with indication of the final classification, with the grading scale and the minimum mark for approval;
  • Transcript of Records of EU secondary education, with indication of the final classification, with the grading scale and the minimum mark for approval;
  • Proof of correspondence of foreign secondary education level, obtained in any secondary education school in Portugal;
  • Proof of validation of the school-leaving exams, obtained at the Portuguese Directorate-General for Higher Education;
  • Pre-requisites of Group A [link], filled in by a doctor registered in the Portuguese Medical Association, in the case of the health area courses;
  • For the undergraduate degree in Speech Therapy: students must also give in a Declaration issued by a Speech Therapist registered in the Portuguese Speech Therapists Association, as per model provided by FFP’s Admissions Office [link];
  • Proof of proficiency of the Portuguese language for students admitted in the cycles of studies with internships/clinical practices, in UFP’s Pedagogical Clinics, UFP’s Teaching-Hospital or in external Healthcare Units (Clinical Analysis and Public Health, Nursing, Physiotherapy and Speech Therapy).


Students that do not give in the proof of proficiency when they register, will mandatorily be enrolled in the “Portuguese for Foreigners” course.
i) The duration of the course is of two school years and students must obtain a positive mark in order to proceed to the clinical training.
ii) Students that do not obtain a positive mark in the course at the end of the two years will have to take a 3rd year of the course.
iii) The attendance of the course is subject to the payment of the corresponding fee in force in each school year.

Notes:
– There are no refunds of payments, nor return of documents;
– Incomplete applications or registrations are not considered;
– The application is only validated after the payment of the application fee;
– The registration is only validated after the payment of the registration fee and the tuition fee;
– The opening of the course requires a minimum number of registrations.

 

That have never attended university can apply through the International Students regime.

You do not comply with the the International Student regime if:

  • You have been enrolled in higher education;
  • You have dual nationality with Portugal or another European Union country;
  • You have a direct relative that is a Portuguese national or another European Union country national;
  • You are benefiting, on the 1st of January of the year in which you intend to apply, from the equality of rights and duties status, attributed under the international treaty between the Portuguese state and your country;
  • You have been legally residing continuously in Portugal for more than two years on the 1st of January of the year in which you intend to apply;
  • Your parents are non European Union nationals that, on the 1st of January of the year in which you intend to apply, have been legally residing continuously in Portugal for more than two years, and you are legally living with them;
  • You wish to apply through the special regimes: students from African countries of Portuguese official language that have a national scholarship; children of foreign diplomats in Portugal; students that practice high frequency sports; East Timor citizens;
  • Or intend to acquire nationality of a European Union country.
  • To have completed secondary education abroad equivalent to the Portuguese secondary education.
  • To have taken, in the current year or fours years before and with a minimum of 95 points, in a scale of 0 to 200 school-leaving exams that are equivalent to the Portuguese admission exams required for the undergraduate course to which you are applying.
    i) To have achieved, in those exams, a minimum of 95 points, in a scale of 0 to 200.
  • To be proficient in the language the course is taught in (Portuguese).
  • The selection through the International Regime is based on the applicants Application Mark (from the highest to the lowest mark).

  • The application mark is a classification in a scale of 0 to 200 points and applicants must have a minimum of 100 points to apply.

  • It is calculated using the following formula:

Note 1: Applicants that do not have the corresponding admission exam or have not taken it in the last 5 years, can take an exam at Fernando Pessoa University.

In the case of foreign candidates whose native language is not Portuguese, the Portuguese test is replaced by an English test.

Note 2: Applicants that do not have a document proving proficiency in Portuguese or a document proving proficiency in English you may take the corresponding proficiency test at Higher School of Health Fernando Pessoa.

Note: Brazilian students will be able to use the ENEM. In that case, the final classification of non-Portuguese secondary education must appear on the Diploma of non-Portuguese secondary education, which must include the grading scale and the minimum approval mark.
Certificate attesting the approval of a teaching program and granting them the right to apply and to be able to enter higher education in the country in which it was conferred, which contains the ratings obtained in each of the terminal disciplines.
• Document proving proficiency in Portuguese [not applicable to natives of Portuguese speaking countries];
• Document proving English proficiency [only for courses taught in a bilingual regime];
• Sworn declaration of the International Student statute ( ESS-FP model).

Note:

This evidence is given through a form that must be filled in by a doctor registered in the Portuguese Medical Association and are given in, by the admitted students, when registering.
• Students admitted in the Speech Therapy undergraduate must also give in a declaration that proves the absence of language or speech impediments and is proficient in the Portuguese language as it is written and spoken in Portugal (the form is provided by the Admissions Office at FP and signed by a Speech Therapist registered in the Portuguese Speech Therapists Association) and is given in, by the admitted students, when registering.

Applicants to ESS-FP through the Transfer/Change of Study Programme, regulated by Ordinance nr. 181-D/2015, of the 19th of June, in the terms of nr. 2 or Article 9, must comply cumulatively with the following conditions:

  • Have been registered/enrolled in a higher education institution, duly recognized by the respective State, in the previous school year or in other school years, with or without interruption of studies, in a programme that they have not finished;
  • Have successfully taken secondary education national exams corresponding to the admission exams fixed for that pair, for that year, for applications through the General Regime, with the minimum classification required by the higher education institution that year for application through the General Regime.

i) In the terms of article 10 and paragraphs b) and c) of no. 1 of article 9, applicants that have completed a foreign secondary education course legally equivalent to the Portuguese secondary education, must prove, through their transcripts of records (“Relevé des Notes” or “Pagella Scolastica” or “Transcript” or “Histórico”), with the corresponding marks, that they have been approved in the final school-leaving subject(s) corresponding to the admission exam(s) established in Portugal for application to the study programme they wish to attend in ESS-FP;

ii) In the terms of article 12, applicants who have entered higher education through the special applications for Over 23 years old, will have to prove that they have successfully taken exams corresponding to those required by the higher education institution in that year for the special applications for Over 23 years old;

iii) The tests carried out in other education institutions need a favourable report from the jury of the tests of the respective course at ESS-FP

  1. In the terms of nr. 3 of Article 9, it is not permitted the change of pair institution/higher technical-professional study programme, or a foreign programme of the same level, to an undergraduate degree or integrated master study programme;
  2. In the terms of Article 15, the curricular integration of the students admitted through the Transfer/Change of Study Programme is done in the school year in which the students register and enrol in ESS-FP/UFP for the first time; it is not possible to suspend the attendance and retain the place for the following school year;
  3. In the case of suspension of attendance, the student will have to go through the application process again, when he/she returns;
  4. The admission through the Transfer/Change of Study Programme regime is subject to a ranking and selection process and to quantitative limitations, annually set by the legally competent organ at ESS-FP/UFP;
  5. The ranking is done through the formula NS = [(65% X Nes) + (35% X Nde) : 2] in which: • NS means “ranking mark”;
  6. Nes means “secondary education graduation mark”; • Nde means “subject(s) corresponding to the Portuguese admission exam(s)”;
  7. The ranking mark (NS) is used in the calculation of the application mark (NC) that will be used for the selection of the applicants to be admitted for registration.
  8. For applicants that have attended a national or foreign higher education degree that is legally recognized in the respective country (the PACES is also considered for this effect), and that have obtained approval in at least 1 curricular unit, the NC (application mark) is obtained by the following formula: NC = (NS + Média)/2 x 1 + y in which: • NS means the “ranking mark”; • Md means the “arithmetic average of the mark(s) of the curricular unit(s) attended and approved in the institution of origin” that belong to the dominant scientific area of the cycle of studies to which the student applied; y means “the number of the curricular units attended and approved in the institution of origin”. The value of y will be of 0,75 for the applicant that has obtained approval from 1 to 3 curricular units; it will be of 1,0 if the applicant has obtained approval from 4 to 6 curricular units; and it will be of 1,5 if the applicant has obtained approval in more than 6 curricular units;
  9. For applicants that have not obtained approval in any curricular unit, the NC (application mark) is obtained by the following formula: NC = (NS + 9)/2+0.5 in which: • NS means the “ranking mark”;
  10. The application mark must be higher than 9,5 marks in a scale of 0 to 20, to be able to be considered in the ordering, for selection purposes in the terms of the following number.
  11. The applicants to be admitted to registration are ranked in descending order by their application mark until the limit of the available places.
  • Applications are for the 1st year of a study cycle.
  • Applicants that are admitted can request the creditation analysis of previous studies up to 10 working days after registering online as a student.

– The request for creditation analysis is done by sending the documentation by post or delivering it in person at the UFP – ESS-FP Admissions Office and entails the payment of an administrative fee.
– If creditations are granted, students can only have their credits registered after the payment of the administrative fee foreseen for in the General Norms Relating to Payment of School Fees at UFP/ESS-FP.

  • In the 2022/2023 school year, places for the Transfer/Change of Study Programme, for the 1st year, can be consulted at [link].

  1. The application is submitted exclusively online, at http://inforestudante.ufp.pt, with the payment of the application fee made by reference to Multibanco or PayPal (in this case, a surcharge is applied to cover the costs charged by that entity).
  2. The documents must be scanned in order to allow a correct visualization, with the embossed seals or stamps of the academic diplomas/certificates clearly visible.

  2. Applicants who do not wish to submit a copy of the identification document must go in person to the UFP – ESS-FP Admissions Office, during its office hours and within the period for the application submission, with the original document;
  3. Non European Union Nationals living in Portugal: Passport with Student Visa for Portugal or Residence permit issued by the Portuguese Immigration and Border Service (SEF);
  4. Non European Union Nationals living abroad: Passport.
  5. Fiscal/tax identification document;
  6. Certificate or Declaration of Registration in a undergraduate degree or integrated cycle (*);
  7. Transcript of Records of the undergraduate degree or integrated cycle (*);
  8. Certificate of the secondary education:

8.1. Applicants that were admitted in the higher education system through the General Regime: Ficha ENES (Portuguese National Exams Score)* or Transcript of Records of the secondary education with the results of the national secondary education exams corresponding to the required admission exams, for applications through the General Regime, for the study cycle in question, with a mandatory minimum score of 9.5;
8.2. Applicants that completed their secondary education abroad: Transcript of Records of the final foreign secondary education subjects(*);
8.3. Applicants that were admitted in the higher education system the special applications for Over 23 years old: proof of admission to higher education by the said application regime and the completion of exams of the special applications for Over 23 years old, with the final classification and its contents and evaluation components (*).

 

 

 

 

(*) Provisions regarding academic certificates:
 
1) Certificates of national education institutions and of the remaining European Member States:
a) The Academic Services may require the presentation of the originals of the certificates and their translation (if applicable), as described below;
b) In the case of certificates of education institutions of EU Member States:
i. The Transcript of Records must include the respective quantitative grading scale, with the indication of the minimum mark for approval, used in the curricular evaluation;
ii. Certificates that are not issued in Portuguese, English, French or Spanish must be accompanied by a translation into Portuguese, which must be legalized by the Portuguese consular agent in the country of origin of the diploma/certificate or legalized withe the Hague Apostille.
 
2) Certificates of education institutions of Non European Member States:
a) The Transcript of Records must include the respective quantitative grading scale, with the indication of the minimum mark for approval, used in the curricular evaluation;
b) Certificates that are not issued in Portuguese, English, French or Spanish must be accompanied by a translation into Portuguese, which must be legalized by the Portuguese consular agent in the country of origin of the diploma/certificate or legalized with the Hague Apostille;

c) For the purposes of application, simple copies of the certificates are accepted. For the registration, the admitted students must give in either copies or originals authenticated with the Hague Apostille in the country in which the documents were issued. If the country has not adhered to this Convention, the documents will have to be legalized by the official education services of that country and by the respective Portuguese diplomatic authority.

1. Admitted students register online in http://candidaturas.ufp.pt, paying the tuition and tuition fee at that moment.
2. For the following cases, it will be necessary to validate the online registration, giving in the documentation indicated in paragraph 2 of this section, at the UFP – ESS-FP Admissions Office, within the deadline stipulated in the admission calendar:
2.1. Non EU nationals;
2.2. Students from Non EU education institutions;
2.3. Students admitted to health undergraduate degrees and integrated master courses.
3. Documentation for validation of the online registration:
3.1. Non EU nationals: Original of the Residence Permit issued by the Portuguese Immigration and Border Service (SEF) or Passport with Student Visa for Portugal.
3.1.1. In the case of students residing abroad: after registering online, they may request a declaration to assist in applying for the Student Visa at the Portuguese Consulate; securing the Student Visa and presenting it within the deadline of the admission schedule is the of the sole responsibility of the students.
3.2. Students from Non EU education institutions: copies or originals of the academic certificates submitted in the online application, authenticated as stipulated in the paragraph “Provisions regarding academic certificates”;
3.3. Students admitted to health undergraduate degrees: (Clinical Analysis and Public Health, Dentistry, Nursing, Nutrition Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Physiotherapy, Speech Therapy):
3.3.1. Pre-requisites of Group A (PDF), filled in by a doctor registered in the Portuguese Medical Association;
3.3.1.1. For the undergraduate degree in Speech Therapy: students must also give in a Declaration issued by a Speech Therapist registered in the Portuguese Speech Therapists Association, as per model provided by the UFP – ESS-FP Admissions Office (PDF).
3.3.1.2. Proof of proficiency of the Portuguese language. Students that do not give in the proof of proficiency when they register will mandatorily be enrolled in the “Portuguese for Foreigners” course.
3.3.1.2.1. The duration of the course is of two school years and students must obtain a positive mark in order to proceed to the clinical training.
3.3.1.2.2. Students that do not obtain a positive mark in the course at the end of the two years will have to take a 3rd year of the course.
iii. The attendance of the course is subject to the payment of the corresponding fee in force in each school year.
3.4. Failure to deliver the documents within the deadline stipulated in the admissions calendar entails the cancellation of registration, however, this does not exempt from the payment of school fees due until the date of cancellation.

1. Applicants that are admitted can request the creditation analysis of previous studies up to 10 working days after the online registration.
2. The creditation analysis request is done by sending the documentation by post or delivering it in person at the UFP – ESS-FP Admissions Office and entails the payment of an administrative fee, which can be consulted in the yearly school fees.
2.1. When the creditation analysis request is sent by post, both the documents and the payment of the respective fee must be received at the UFP – ESS-FP Admissions Office until the last day of the deadline indicated above.
3. The documentation necessary for the creditation analysis request is:
3.1. UFP/ESS-FP creditation analysis request form (link);
3.2. Students from Non EU education institutions: will have to given in (if they have not already done so): copies or originals of the academic certificates submitted in the online application authenticated as stipulated in the paragraph “Provisions regarding academic certificates”;
3.3. Programmes/syllabi of the subjects, including the study and evaluation methods and the workloads, duly stamped by the higher education institution that issued them.
3.3.1. Programmes that are not issued in Portuguese, English, French or Spanish must be accompanied by a translation into Portuguese, which must be legalized by the Portuguese consular agent in the country of origin of the diploma/certificate or legalized with the Hague Apostille;
3.3.2. If the student does not wish to give in the originals: i. Students from education institutions in the European Union: can give in a plain photocopy provided the stamp of the issuing institution is clearly visible;
3.3.2.1. Students from Non EU education institutions: can give certified copies in accordance with the provisions of the section “Provisions regarding academic certificates”; the issuing institution’s stamp must be clearly visible on those certified copies.
3.4. Study plan of the study programme or training carried out;
3.5. In the case of studies carried out in foreign higher education institutions: document proving that the institution is recognized by the competent authorities of the respective State, as part of its higher education system, under the terms established by Article I.1 of the Convention on Recognition of Qualifications Relating to Higher Education in the Europe Region, approved, for ratification, by the Resolution of the Assembly of the Republic no. 25/2000, of 30 March.
4. If creditations are granted, students must pay the administrative fee foreseen for in the General Norms Relating to Payment of School Fees atb ESS-FP to register those creditations.

2023/24 School Year

  • Hold a bachelor’s, undergraduate , master’s or doctoral degree;
  • To fulfil the prerequisites, when required by the institution/course pair;
  • Not be covered by the international student status regulated by Decree-Law no. 36/2014, of 10 March, amended and republished by Decree-Law no. 62/2018, of 6 August.
  • Applicants in this competition will be ranked by successive application of the following criteria:
    a) Final classification of the higher education course, rounded to the nearest cent, in descending order;
    b) Academic qualifications, giving priority, successively, to holders of a bachelor’s degree, an undergraduate degree, a master degree and a doctorate degree;
    c) Age, in descending order.
  • Candidates holding a foreign higher education degree, whose final classification of the degree presented is expressed in a scale other than Portuguese, will be subject to the proportional conversion of the classification obtained to the Portuguese classification scale, under the terms of the law.
  • In situations where there is no final classification of the higher education course, the classification of 10 (ten) marks will be considered for the purposes of ranking.
  • In the ranking of candidates who present certificates proving they have different courses/degrees, the best quantitative final classification presented will be considered, safeguarding the provisions of paragraph b).

Necessary documents:

  • European Union identification document; Non-European Union Citizens living in Portugal: Student Visa for Portugal or Residence Card issued by the Portuguese Immigration and Border Service (SEF); Non European Union Citizens living abroad: Passport;
  • Tax identification document (for issuing receipts);
  • Candidates with a Portuguese diploma: Diploma of completion of the undergraduate or graduate degree, with the final classification.
  • Candidates with foreign diploma: Diploma of completion of the undergraduate or graduate degree, with the final classification and the corresponding grading scale, including the minimum mark for approval 1 and 2.
  • Declaration that the course is recognized as superior by the legislation of the country concerned1 and 2.

In the case of studies carried out in Non European Union educational institutions, the documents (whether they are originals or photocopies) must be authenticated with the Hague Convention Apostille in the country in which the course was completed. If said country has not adhered to the Convention, it must be authenticated by the official education services of that country and by the respective Portuguese diplomatic authorities. If admitted, applicants will have to give in hard copies of the duly authenticated certificates for validation of the registration.
2 For studies carried out in foreign educational institutions: certificates that are not issued in Portuguese, English, French or Spanish must be accompanied by a translation into Portuguese, which must be legalized by the Portuguese consular agent in the country of origin of the diploma / certificate or legalized by the Hague Convention Apostille.
Note: The application is only validated after payment of the respective fee.

Applicants that are admitted will have to register online within the time indicated in the admission calendar. The validation of the registration is done in person at the Admission Office, within the deadline set in the admission calendar, giving in the following documents:

  • Hard copies of the duly authenticated academic certificates of studies completed in Non European Union educational institutions submitted in the online application;
  • Group A prerequisites form, completed by a doctor registered in Portugal (applicable to the courses identified in Note 8.4.; see Note 8.4.1.);
  • Proof of proficiency in the Portuguese language (applicable to the courses identified in Note 8.4; see Note 8.5.);
  • Non European Union Citizens: Student Visa for Portugal or Residence Card issued by the Portuguese Immigration and Border Service (SEF).

 

Note: The registration is only validated after the payment of the registration fee and the tuition fee.
  • There is no refund of fees paid or the return of documentation delivered;
  • The opening of courses requires a minimum number of students;
  • The documents submitted in the online application must be scanned in order to allow a correct visualization, with the embossed seals or stamps of the diplomas/certificates, and of the documents evidencing the activities mentioned in the CV, clearly visible.
    i) For applicants submitting certificates from educational institutions in the European Union: the academic services may require; the presentation of the originals of the certificates and their translation, authenticated in the terms previously stipulated;
    ii) For applicants submitting certificates from Non European Union educational institutions: the online registration will only be validated upon delivery, within the deadline indicated in the admission calendar, of the hard copies the duly authenticated duly authenticated academic certificates of studies completed in Non European Union educational institutions, submitted in the online application (authentication as per stipulated in *).
  • Applicable to applicants admitted to the courses of: Clinical Analysis and Public Health,, Nursing, Physiotherapy,  Speech Therapy.
    i) Applicants admitted to the Degree in Speech Therapy must also give in a Declaration issued by Speech Therapist, registered at the Association of Therapists of Portugal, according to the model available at the Admissions Office.
  • Applicants admitted to the courses identified in item above that do not give in the proof of proficiency of the Portuguese language when validating the online registration will be required to attend the “Portuguese for Foreigners” course:
    i) The duration of the course is two academic years, with the necessary approval to be able to proceed to clinical training.
    ii) Students who do not obtain approval for the course at the end of the two years, will have to attend a 3rd year of the course.
    iii) The attendance of the course is subject to the payment of the respective fee in force.

The regime for admission to Higher Education for applicants over 23 years old designates the tests that are especially appropriate and intended to assess the capacity of candidates over 23 years old to attend higher education.

Applicants must comply, cumulatively, with the following conditions:

  • Have completed 23 years of age until the 31st of December of the year preceding the application;
  • Not have any qualifications that grant them access to higher education:
    i) The following applicants are considered as having qualifications for access to higher education: applicants who have taken and passed the admission exams for the higher education course that they wish to enter and applicants who are qualified to submit an application through another admission regime.
  • For the purpose of determining the final classification, a percentage will be calculated for each of the assessment elements:
    i)For the written exams, with an equal value: 45%;
    ii) For the assessment of the curriculum: 40%
    iii)For the interview: 15%.
  • For the ranking of the applicants, these percentages will be converted to the numerical scale from 0 to 20.
  • Applicants with a final classification equal to or higher than 10 will be considered for ranking.
  • The ranking is done in descending order of the final classification until all available places are filled.

The application can be submitted online on platform https://inforestudante.ufp.pt/ and must be accompanied by the following documents:

  1. Application form dully filled in (.PDF – not applicable for online applications);
  2. European Union Identification Document or Residence Permit issued by the Portuguese Immigration and Border Service of Portugal;
  3. Photocopy of the Taxpayer Card;
  4. Document proving the status of family of Portuguese or EU member state nationals (if applicable);
  5. Written statement to the Jury of the exams on the motivation for the application (free template);
  6. Detailed Curriculum Vitae, according to the Europass template (link);
  7. Proof of the activities mentioned in the Curriculum Vitae*;
  8. Qualifications Certificate*;
  9. Declaration, under oath, that you do not hold any higher education access qualifications (ESS-FP model);
  10. Certificate proving the approval in the tests for over 23 years old, with the identification of them, issued by the Higher Education Institution where they were taken (if applicable).

* Academic certificates and documents’ requirements:
The white seals or stamps of the entities issuing the certificates and documents must be clearly visible in the online application.
Academic certificates and documents issued by foreign institutions:
– The Transcript of Records must include the respective quantitative grading scale, with the indication of the minimum mark for approval, used in the curricular evaluation.
– Documents must be issued in Portuguese, English, Spanish or French. If issued in another language they must be translated into Portuguese by a translator recognized by the Portuguese diplomatic authorities.
Academic certificates and documents of:
– National and European Union institutions: if admitted, for the registration, the Academic Services may require the presentation of the originals of the certificates;
– Non European Union institutions: if admitted, for the registration applicants will have to give in photocopies or originals authenticated with the Apostille of the Hague Convention in the country where the course was held; if the country has not joined the Convention, the documents must be authenticated by the official education services of that country and the respective Portuguese diplomatic authority.

Applicants must take 2 (two) exams, according to the course they are applying to:

  • Clinical Analysis and Public Health
  • Nursing
  • Physiotherapy
  • Speech Therapy

ESSFP supports the applicants in their preparation, taking into consideration the specific contents of the exams:

  • Summary of the tests with the objectives, the contents of the test and the reference bibliography and study material;
  • Short preparation courses, with classes from 5 p.m. onwards, aimed at preparing candidates for the entrance examinations and, at the same time, at helping them to understand the essential topics for university attendance.

Note: These courses have an additional fee to the application fee and require previous inscription.

  • The Regulation of the tests for access and admission to the Fernando Pessoa University for Applicants over 23 years of age establishes the procedures for the realization of the tests especially suitable and intended to assess the capacity to attend higher education of those over 23 years of age, in accordance with the stipulations of Decree-Law no. 64/2006, of 21 March, amended by Decree-Laws no. 113/2014, of 16 July, and no. 63/2016, of 13 September.

  8. Students admitted to health undergraduate degrees  must give in for the registration:
  • Pre-requisites of Group A (PDF), filled in by a doctor registered in the Portuguese Medical Association;
  • For the undergraduate degree in Speech Therapy: students must also give in a Declaration issued by a Speech Therapist registered in the Portuguese Speech Therapists Association, as per model provided by the ESS-FP Admissions Office (PDF).
  • Proof of proficiency of the Portuguese language, level B2, of the European Reference Framework for Languages.
  • Students that do not give in the above indicated proof of proficiency when they register will mandatorily be enrolled in the “Portuguese for Foreigners” course.
  • The duration of the course is of two school years and students must obtain a positive mark in order to proceed to the clinical training.
  • Students that do not obtain a positive mark in the course at the end of the two years will have to take a 3rd year of the course.
  • The attendance of the course is subject to the payment of the corresponding fee in force in each school year.
  1. Failure to deliver the documents for the finalization of the registration within the deadline stipulated in the admissions calendar entails the cancellation of registration, however, this does not exempt from the payment of school fees due until the date of cancellation.
